A Week in Review...

Yes, it's been more than a week without me in LA!!! Have I been missed???
I'm sure all of you are wrapped up in your preparations for the holidays--

So many of you have asked:
"Are you OK, Dahéli?!!  On the news, Greece looks like it's in total mayhem!"
The answer is: 'Yes, I'm fine.  And yes, Greece is in total mayhem...'

In Athens there are protests, mobs of people openly beating on government officials and lots of strikes-- buses, taxis, subways and even...a news media strike!  WHAT?!!!  That's right, there was no news yesterday because journalists went on strike, which means that today we have no newspapers.
Could you imagine Katie Couric being like--
"I'm fed up.  I'm striking. You can take my million dollar contract and shove it.  There will be no news from me today, folks."  (She wouldn't...but these Greeks, they are pretty ballsy)

But just because Greece isn't reporting doesn't mean I don't have to...
Here's my week in review!

So this is one of George's favorite treats, they are called "melomacarona".  I don't know what they are made of, I think basically sugar, sugar, with sugar and dough.  Oh wait, George has corrected me-- they are made of lots of honey and walnuts.  You can also get them covered with chocolate.  They are a bit too sweet for me.

On my third night, George went to work.  It gave me a chance to sleep.  I usually bounce right into the time of the country I land-- but like I said I did have a bit of jet-lag.  When he came back he brought me this:

A ROSE!!  Very sweet... I have to find the perfect vase for it!
(which turned out to be a 1 liter bottle of Coke).

George has a car, but we never use it.  We are ALWAYS on the bike...
This is me on the bike with the wind in my face.  Yes, I am very bundled up!

The view from the passenger side...

So in order to communicate.  George got me a phone.  Check it out!!!  It has an FM radio....ooh!
If you want to holla on my Greek mobile, email me and I can give you my digits--

Here's the first meal I cooked!!!
(sorta, there is a left over pizza from "Pizza Fan" on the plate, too).
My meal consisted of a salad, turkey & cheese panini and fried potatoes-- yum!

BTW: This man has practically no cooking tools...
I thought I was limited with my cooking equipment but George has me beat
(I've introduced a collander and a large wooden cooking spoon into his repertoire).

More to come...

  1. Yay! Love the blissful look on your face. I'm so jealous - would love to be in Europe right now, strikes and all. I'm back in LA and though it's definitely good to be home it is a bit weird. Guess I was starting to get used to Taipei. Anyway, keep having fun! Love you -
