George is also the apartment manager in his building and there is a particularly annoying neighbor who is constantly alerting him to things that needed "repair" -- basically, this lady has no life.
So the weekend before Christmas, we thought-- "why spend this time having this lady ring the door bell 24/7 with new "projects" when we can ROAD TRIP and be completely unavailable!" And that's what we did!
Unfortunately, this impromptu decision did not allow me to pack the most necessary of elements: the charger for my camera! UGH.
My camera essentially died when we got to Kalavrita (a mountain village about an 1.5 hours outside of Athens), thankfully we had our camera phones.
NOTE: I haven't figured out how to upload my pictures from my Blackberry yet--
(OK, I haven't tried. But when I do I will post!)

Look at that sky!
The home of my favorite olives is just 114 km away!!!

We made it! George said I must taste the mountain water... SO REFRESHING! (This last photo before my camera died)
We had a balcony!
OK-- the camera phones are not the best. But look at the view!
The Inn's watchdog...he's huge. At least 5' feet long and 4' feet high..
Mountain Spring!
I can't stop drinking this mountain water!!! So tasty...
At this place you can also order live fish...for dinner. Yum?
We drove up to the snow! You can go skiing up here...
After this photo, we chose to have a snow ball fight!
The mossy ground was so soft I couldn't help myself...
King of the forest
Queen of the forest?

The night we stayed in Kalavrita, we had a wonderful meal! The food was amazing... I have photos, unfortunately they're on my Blackberry. I will upload them, for sure! BTW: I liked the mountains a lot.
FUN FACT: Most people live with their parents until they get married. So what do you want to do if you want to get away with your boo? Head to the mountains!!! To your family's country house!!! That's right. Most everyone has a country home, in their village. So it's perfectly normal to get the keys to your family's village home to have some alone time with your sweetie. In fact that weekend, we met up with George's friend Panayotis and his girlfriend, Fontini at Panyotis' family home in Corinth. They cooked up some shishkabobs for us! Very, very yummy...
ANOTHER FUN FACT: People go for "coffee" here the way people in Los Angeles go for "drinks". After the wonderful meal at Panayotis' house we took the couple out for coffee!

oh Daheli! love, love, LOVE the posts and the pictures.
